Just wanted to give a shout out to all of my Barix buddies that I saw today - Deb, Debbie, Chris, Laureen, Jim, Kathy, Susan, Sue, Beth, Shilpa, Lynn, Lisa, Nan (you are looking so good girl), Dennis, Robin, Beth V. Barb, and last but not least STEFFI- I'm sorry if I forgot anyone else.

As always it was great to see everyone and just to be in such a welcoming and affirming group.  Ending up going out to lunch with my pre-op buddies from a year ago and having an awesome time.  Looking forward to the meeting a week from Wednesday when I get to celebrate my surgiversary with some of you guys.  Have a great week everyone and keep cool.

Donna

P.S.  I missed seeing you Karen but I am glad that you got to spend some time with the saner members of Eddie's family.

Donna,

It's always great seeing you.  What a great way to spend a Saturday with friends and lots of support.  Lynn, Deb and I went out for lunch afterwards yesterday as well.  Wish we all could have coordinated and met up....maybe next time.  We had some good laughs at lunch.  It was a really enjoyable day with good friends and lots of support!

Thanks to the Barix group leaders for giving so much of themselves.  I can't imagine going through this journey without all the great friends I've met along the way!

Love you guys,

Debbie

I am ALWAYS amazed after attending Barix support. When you consider that we don't know each other from other areas of life....but we come together there and put ALL kinds of issues out there...what a tribute that is to our leaders for creating such an accepting and open environment for the group.

Friendships that grow out of the WLS and support experience are a wonderful benefit. I hadn't thought that this would happen for me, necessarily. But it has, and I am so grateful for my WLS friends!

You never know quite what you are going to learn at a support group. It seems like a sacrifice sometimes, to give a chunk of time that way to the meeting, plus the drive over. But...never once have I come away thinking, "Gee I wish I hadn't done that."

I heard a church address not long ago where the speaker said, "When you try to walk on water by yourself, you will always sink." Support group helps us know we can do very hard things....things that seem impossible...without sinking. It's where we can listen or speak up and know that we will get a helping hand when we need it, to pull us up out of the water. Or, where we can count on a swift kick when we need that, too.

Love it!

Donna, I'm with Deb - let's organize lunch for next time. Hopefully I'll be there in July - my daughter is having a baby in late June, and I'm not sure exactly when I'll be in Michigan with her. But we'll put it together. The new times work out well for lunch afterwards.

PS. You look so great! Not just the pics - I remember sitting in the pre op group with you about a year ago....

Donna,

It was a good day yesterday for sure I left feeling charged with an uplifting spirit. At times I think why do I do this then it all hits home that I NEED to do this and have come to care and love so many people. We share some of our most personal thoughts and struggles we laugh we cry and we comfort and support.

I meant it when I said that you have changed so much in the year I have known you and you are one that gives me motavation.

Den & I also got to have lunch with the beautiful Heather (HG) we really enjoyed our time together afterwards as well.

Another weekend filled with friends all because I had a little surgery ;)

I, too, am so glad I got to go to Barix yesterday.  I met the great Mike Materacky and Robin Rehr officially for the first time yesterday.  It was great being in a group with a different bunch of people.  It is always amazing to hear what motivates people and what they do to STAY motivated.  I really needed to be there and am up to Mike's exercise challenge.  My other "must do" this week is to weigh and measure my food.  This one is going to be a real challenge because I just get too lazy.  No excuses this week.  I WILL do this!

Lisa,

Your group sounded interesting -- maybe next month they will have the same topic and I'll attend that one.  I like the way they broke the groups down this time by topics.

Great seeing you yesterday.  As always, you're just a little doll baby!  Keep up the fantastic job successing!

Donna,

As always, it is so nice to see you and share support together. I find it so reassuring that we have this group to come to at least 2x a month.  It seems that when I need the support is right when we have meetings. I, too am looking forward to the Wednesday meeting where we can celebrate our surgiversaries together!  I haven't seen any of my suitemates that were on the floor with me at any of the meetings. That is ok, I have made so many great new friends and renewed an old friendship with Steffi.

I think the Wednesday night meeting will be very busy with surgiversaries....hope there is time for actual support!! LOL!!!!
